According to flight tracking data, the aircraft remained in an irregular holding pattern for nearly two hours before losing altitude. Preliminary hypotheses suggest possible crew hypoxia, which may have incapacitated the pilots during the flight. Authorities from the Ministry of Public Works, led by Mauricio Zamora Liebers, confirmed that only the pilot and co-pilot were on board.

Following the activation of emergency protocols, search teams from the Bolivian Air Force located the aircraft in a jungle area of the Tropics of Cochabamba, between the communities of Sinuta and San Gabriel.
