Argentina Advances Nationwide Modernization of Its Air Traffic Management System. Argentina is making significant progress in the modernization of its Air Traffic Management (ATM) system, one of the country’s most important technological upgrades for air navigation services in recent decades. The Flight Information Regions (FIRs) of Córdoba, Mendoza, and Ezeiza have already implemented the new platform, replacing systems that had been in operation for between 11 and 19 years and marking a major milestone in the modernization of Argentina’s air traffic infrastructure.

The project is part of a nationwide modernization program led by the Argentine Air Navigation Company (EANA) and powered by technology developed by Indra. While the Mendoza and Ezeiza FIRs are completing the final stages of operational adaptation, the Comodoro Rivadavia and Resistencia FIRs are undergoing the technical and infrastructure upgrades required for implementation in 2027. Once completed, all Area Control Centers across Argentina will operate using a unified, state-of-the-art ATM platform.

The new system will optimize flight trajectories, improve operational predictability, and reduce delays, helping airlines lower fuel consumption and associated emissions. It will also increase the country’s capacity to manage a growing number of flights, supporting the continued expansion of Argentina’s commercial aviation sector under the government’s deregulation and open skies policies.

The ATM platform integrates real-time surveillance, weather, communications, and flight plan data while supporting advanced technologies such as Mode S and ADS-B, in compliance with the standards established by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). Its deployment has been supported by extensive staff training, simulator installation, and infrastructure upgrades, ensuring a safe transition while enhancing the efficiency, operational safety, and sustainability of Argentina’s air navigation system.
