SKY Airline Expands Network for Summer Season with Airbus A321XLR Launch. Chilean low-cost carrier SKY Airline has announced an expansion of its route network for the 2026/2027 summer season, featuring new international non-stop services from Santiago and Lima, alongside a new domestic interregional connection in Chile.

International Expansion & Airbus A321XLR Debut

• ✈ Santiago – Punta Cana: Launches December 29, 2026, with four weekly frequencies. The route marks a major milestone as SKY becomes the first South American airline to operate the Airbus A321XLR, set for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2026.
• ✈ Santiago – Cusco: Starts January 3, 2027, with daily seasonal flights during peak season.
• ✈ Santiago – Salvador da Bahia: Seasonal direct service resumes on December 28, 2026.
• ✈ Lima – Rio de Janeiro: Expands international connectivity from its Peruvian hub with a new direct link.

Chilean Domestic Network

SKY will introduce a direct interregional route between Temuco and Balmaceda, connecting the Araucanía region directly to the Carretera Austral without requiring a connection in Santiago. The seasonal service will operate twice weekly on Fridays and Sundays from January 1 through March 14, 2027. Pedro Navarro, SKY’s Director of Routes, Schedules, and Alliances, emphasized that the new routes support the airline’s strategy to bolster Santiago’s international hub while providing point-to-point regional alternatives for key tourism markets.
