Frontier Airlines Adds Daily Flights Between Detroit and New York. Frontier Airlines continues to expand its footprint at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) with the launch of a new nonstop service to New York‘s LaGuardia Airport (LGA). The route will launch on November 20, 2026, operating up to three times weekly during standard periods and increasing to daily service during the peak holiday travel season.

The new connection is part of Frontier Airlines‘ growth in Detroit, expanding its nonstop network to 15 destinations from DTW. Eleven of these routes were previously operated by Spirit Airlines before the carrier ended operations at the airport in early 2026.

In addition to New York–LaGuardia, Frontier Airlines will increase flight frequencies to key Florida destinations, including Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, Orlando, and Miami. As a result of this expansion, the airline expects to offer 41% more seats from Detroit in March 2027 compared to March 2026. To mark the launch, Frontier Airlines is offering promotional fares starting at $69, subject to conditions and availability. The expansion reinforces the airline’s strategy to absorb capacity vacated by Spirit Airlines in Detroit while strengthening its presence in a key United States market.

The carrier is positioning itself with an upgraded low-cost offering that includes UpFront Plus seating, which provides extra legroom and a guaranteed empty middle seat. Frontier Airlines also announced plans to introduce First Class seating and high-speed Starlink Wi-Fi across its fleet as part of its strategy to broaden passenger options while maintaining competitive fares.
