Emergency Evacuation in Delhi After Engine Failure on SWISS Airbus A330. Operated by Swiss International Air Lines, registration HB-JHK, was involved in an incident on April 26, 2026, at Indira Gandhi International Airport, after aborting takeoff due to a failure in its left engine. The aircraft, operating flight LX147 bound for Zurich, was accelerating on the runway when the crew rejected the takeoff at high speed following a loud bang from the engine.

After coming to a stop, smoke was observed on the left side of the aircraft, linked to a fire in the landing gear wheels and brakes. Emergency services responded immediately to contain the situation, while the crew initiated a full evacuation using emergency slides. A total of 245 people were on board, including passengers and crew, all of whom were evacuated on the runway. As a result of the evacuation, six passengers sustained injuries, two of them serious, mainly involving leg fractures.

The airline confirmed that the crew was unharmed and that all passengers received medical assistance. Some individuals who were unable to use the slides were evacuated via stairs. The airline activated a response team to assist passengers, coordinate rebookings, and arrange accommodation. At the same time, technical specialists from Swiss International Air Lines will travel to Delhi to investigate the cause of the incident in coordination with authorities. The airline reiterated that the safety of its passengers and crew remains its top priority.
