SKY Airline boosts connectivity for Chile’s 2026 winter season. With the arrival of the first cold fronts, SKY Airline is positioning itself as a key player in air connectivity for the 2026 winter season. The airline expects to transport more than 306,000 passengers to southern Chile between June and August, strengthening regions such as Biobío, La Araucanía, Los Ríos, and Los Lagos as major winter tourism hubs. This projection reflects not only strong domestic demand but also growing international interest, highlighted by the arrival of over 4,300 Brazilian travelers seeking to experience snow and winter sports in the Andes.

From an operational standpoint, SKY will deploy a robust schedule of weekly flights during July to key destinations including Concepción, Temuco, Valdivia, Osorno, and Puerto Montt, all operated with Airbus neo aircraft, known for their efficiency and lower environmental impact. Puerto Montt leads the projections with more than 135,000 passengers, followed by Concepción with around 70,000 and Temuco with nearly 38,000 travelers. Meanwhile, Valdivia and Osorno together account for more than 65,000 passengers. In addition, Santiago continues to consolidate its role as a strategic hub, especially for international visitors connecting to the south or to nearby ski resorts such as Valle Nevado, La Parva, and El Colorado.

Beyond traditional skiing, the 2026 winter season highlights a broader tourism offering that combines nature, wellness, and cultural experiences. Destinations such as Corralco, located within the Malalcahuello National Reserve, offer skiing surrounded by ancient araucaria forests. Meanwhile, Nevados de Chillán blends winter sports with natural thermal springs, and Valdivia opens the door to unique experiences in the Valdivian rainforest. Further south, Osorno and Puerto Montt provide access to iconic Patagonian landscapes, including the Volcán Osorno and Lake Llanquihue. In this context, SKY Airline reinforces its commitment to operational resilience and safety, particularly as weather forecasts point to increased precipitation, which could enhance snow conditions while also requiring strong operational planning.
