Air Transat launches nonstop Montreal–Istanbul service.The airline Air Transat has announced the launch of a new year-round nonstop route between Montreal and Istanbul, further strengthening its long-haul international network and expanding connectivity between Canada and Türkiye. The new service will begin on October 29, 2026, and will operate twice weekly, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, using Airbus A330 aircraft. The addition reflects the carrier’s strategy of targeting high-demand international markets while reinforcing its position in the Canadian leisure travel segment.

With the introduction of the Montreal route, Air Transat will offer a total of five weekly flights to Istanbul when combined with its existing Toronto operations. As a result, travelers from several Canadian cities, including Halifax, Vancouver, Ottawa, Quebec City, Winnipeg, and Calgary, will gain improved access to one of the world’s most important intercontinental hubs. Moreover, through its partnership with Turkish Airlines, passengers will be able to connect seamlessly beyond Istanbul to destinations across the Middle East, Asia, Africa, and the Caucasus on a single ticket.

According to Air Transat executives, the new route responds to strong and sustained Canadian demand for travel to Türkiye and neighboring regions. The airline also emphasized that the success of the Toronto–Istanbul service, launched in 2025, demonstrated the commercial potential of expanding operations to the Turkish market. In addition, representatives from ADM Aéroports de Montréal highlighted the route’s importance for both tourism and business travel, noting that Istanbul offers travelers a unique cultural and economic gateway between Europe and Asia.
