Frontier Airlines to Introduce Starlink High-Speed Wi-Fi Beginning in 2027. Frontier Airlines has announced that it will enhance the passenger experience by introducing Starlink, SpaceX’s satellite internet service, across its fleet. The airline expects its first Starlink-equipped aircraft to enter service in early 2027, becoming the first U.S. airline to offer high-speed onboard connectivity through a system managed directly by the carrier.

Starlink will provide passengers with low-latency broadband internet throughout the flight, enabling activities such as high-definition video streaming, video calls, online gaming, web browsing, and remote work with performance comparable to a ground-based internet connection. The new service is designed to deliver a faster and more reliable onboard connectivity experience for travelers.

Beyond passenger connectivity, Frontier will also leverage Starlink to improve its operational performance. The system will provide real-time communications for pilots, cabin crews, maintenance teams, and ground personnel, offering gate-to-gate connectivity that will enhance operational coordination, maintenance capabilities, and customer service.

The deployment is part of a broader initiative led by Indigo Partners, the investment firm that also holds stakes in Wizz Air, Volaris, JetSMART, and Cebu Pacific. Collectively, the group’s airlines plan to install Starlink on more than 1,000 aircraft, making it one of the largest in-flight connectivity programs in the aviation industry.

Indigo Partners Managing Partner Bill Franke said the technology will provide fast and reliable internet service across the group’s airlines, while Frontier Airlines CEO Jimmy Dempsey noted that the initiative complements the airline’s recent introduction of First Class seating and enhancements to its loyalty program, while maintaining its commitment to affordable fares.
