GOL Linhas Aéreas has announced adjustments to its route network in response to a sharp increase in aviation fuel prices in Brazil. The services affected by the review include flights connecting Brasília with Miami and Orlando, in the United States, operating under the route codes BSB–MIA and BSB–MCO, respectively.
The airline explained that aviation fuel prices, known in Brazil as QAV, have doubled and currently account for approximately 40% of its operating costs. In response, GOL is implementing schedule changes that include frequency reductions and potential service suspensions on certain segments of its network.
Rising fuel prices are one of the main challenges facing airlines due to their direct impact on operating expenses. Against this backdrop, GOL aims to adapt its flight offerings to current economic conditions and the operational requirements of its network.

In an official statement, the company emphasized that network planning is a dynamic and ongoing process inherent to the commercial aviation industry. According to GOL, decisions are made based on the airline’s overall operations and the specific operational requirements of each market segment.

GOL also stressed that adjustments are made without regional distinctions or specific priorities among markets. The company thus defended its network planning strategy amid the changes affecting the aviation sector.
The changes to services between Brasília, Miami, and Orlando come as airlines face mounting cost pressures and are being forced to reassess their operations to maintain the financial sustainability of their international networks. The trajectory of fuel prices will be a key factor in determining further changes to GOL’s flight schedule.
