Mercado Libre announced a major expansion of its logistics network in Argentina with the introduction of air cargo operations to Patagonia, aiming to significantly reduce delivery times in some of the country’s most remote regions. Through the new operation, customers in Ushuaia, Bariloche, Neuquén and Trelew will be able to receive products within up to 48 hours, improving access to e-commerce services in an area where long delivery times have historically been a major logistical challenge. The operation is expected to handle between 15,000 and 16,000 shipments per day through five weekly frequencies.

To support the expansion, the company implemented a combined logistics model using both commercial and dedicated cargo operations. In Ushuaia and Bariloche, Mercado Libre began utilizing cargo space on regular passenger flights operated by Aerolíneas Argentinas, allowing the company to leverage existing airline infrastructure for faster deliveries. At the same time, Mercado Libre consolidated its first domestic air cargo network in Argentina together with Innova Logistic for operations to Neuquén and Trelew. The project uses dedicated cargo aircraft from Aerolíneas Argentinas and has also driven the development of new air cargo terminals in both Patagonian cities, strengthening regional logistics infrastructure.

According to the company, the initiative is part of its broader strategy to federalize logistics operations across Argentina and ensure that geographic distance does not limit access to e-commerce. With this expansion, Argentina becomes the fifth country in Latin America where Mercado Libre has incorporated air transportation into its logistics network and the third market in the region to operate dedicated cargo flights after Brazil and Mexico. The company stated that it will continue evaluating new opportunities to expand its air logistics operations and further strengthen nationwide delivery capabilities.
