United Airlines to Launch Nonstop Flights from Houston and Washington Dulles to Cartagena.United Airlines will expand its network in Colombia with the launch of two new year-round nonstop routes to Cartagena, subject to government approval. Beginning on December 17, the carrier will operate four weekly flights from Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) during the winter season. With this expansion, Cartagena will become United’s third destination in Colombia, alongside Bogotá and Medellín, strengthening connectivity between the country and more than 70 destinations across the United States through the airline’s major hubs.

Both routes will be operated with Boeing 737 aircraft. Flights from Washington Dulles will depart every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday at 8:20 a.m., arriving in Cartagena at 1:10 p.m., while return services will leave Cartagena at 4:00 p.m. and arrive in Washington at 8:40 p.m. From Houston, flights will depart at 9:35 a.m. and land in Cartagena at 2:50 p.m., with return flights scheduled to leave Cartagena at 2:20 p.m. and arrive in Houston at 5:45 p.m. All schedules remain subject to change.

In addition to expanding its presence in Colombia, United will offer passengers an enhanced onboard experience featuring individual seatback entertainment screens, Bluetooth connectivity, larger overhead bins, and complimentary Starlink Wi-Fi for MileagePlus members once the service becomes available. The airline highlighted Cartagena’s growing appeal as an international destination, noting that Lonely Planet recently named the city one of the top travel destinations for 2026, recognizing its well-preserved colonial architecture, vibrant culinary scene, and rich cultural heritage.
