Avianca Cancels Bogotá–Caracas Flights Following Earthquake and Implements Flexible Travel Options.Avianca has announced the cancellation of several flights between Bogotá and Caracas following the earthquake that struck the Venezuelan capital on Wednesday afternoon. The airline expressed its solidarity with the individuals, families and members of the airport community affected by the seismic event, while reaffirming that the safety of passengers, crew members and flight operations remains its highest priority. As a precautionary measure, Avianca canceled flight AV122 on June 24, as well as flights AV123, AV142 and AV143 scheduled for June 25 on the Bogotá–Caracas–Bogotá route.

In response to the situation, the airline has activated a flexible travel policy for passengers holding reservations to and from Caracas between June 24 and July 1. Travelers will be able to change their travel dates without paying penalties or fare differences, subject to seat availability, for flights departing up to 15 days after the original travel date. In addition, customers may request a rerouting option to travel from or to Cúcuta at no additional cost, subject to availability. These changes must be processed directly through Avianca’s customer service channels.

The airline also confirmed that passengers who choose not to travel may request a full refund for any unused portions of their tickets through Avianca’s website or the travel agency where the booking was originally made. Avianca strongly advised customers to regularly check the status of their flights and remain attentive to updates issued through the airline’s official communication channels. The carrier stated that it will continue monitoring the situation closely and will provide timely information to affected travelers as operational conditions in Caracas evolve and services can be safely restored.
