Asiana Airlines to Leave Star Alliance in December 2026. Asiana Airlines will officially leave Star Alliance on December 16, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Korea Standard Time (KST), ending a membership that began in 2003. Star Alliance and the South Korean carrier will work closely throughout the transition period to ensure a smooth experience for customers while maintaining seamless connectivity and member benefits until the airline’s departure becomes effective.

Members of Star Alliance frequent flyer programs will continue to earn miles on eligible Asiana Airlines flights departing through October 15, 2026. In addition, miles may be redeemed for award tickets and upgrades on Asiana-operated flights within the Star Alliance network for travel completed by December 16, 2026, subject to the terms and conditions of each participating loyalty program. Star Alliance Gold and Silver members will also continue to enjoy their respective benefits, including priority services, while Gold members will retain access to eligible Star Alliance and Asiana Airlines lounges through the airline’s final day in the alliance.

Following Asiana Airlines’ departure, Star Alliance will continue to maintain a strong presence at Incheon International Airport through 14 member airlines: Air Canada, Air China, Air India, Air New Zealand, EVA Air, Ethiopian Airlines, Lufthansa, LOT Polish Airlines, SWISS, Singapore Airlines, Shenzhen Airlines, Thai Airways, Turkish Airlines, and United Airlines. Together, these carriers currently operate more than 1,900 nonstop flights each month from Seoul to 29 destinations worldwide.

Effective December 17, 2026, Star Alliance will consist of 25 member airlines and will continue to provide customers with a comprehensive global network, offering seamless multi-carrier travel and efficient connections across its worldwide route system.
