LATAM vuelve a Pereira y refuerza vuelos en el Eje Cafetero

LATAM Resumes Pereira Flights and Strengthens Eje Cafetero Service Following Earthquake Closure. LATAM Airlines Colombia has announced it will resume operations at Pereira’s Matecaña International Airport on August 26, 2026, following the airport’s reopening after a temporary closure caused by a magnitude earthquake on August 10. Initially, the carrier will operate two daily flights from Bogotá and one daily flight from Medellín, totaling 21 weekly frequencies.

A full restoration to its pre-emergency schedule of five daily flights will depend on the airport reaching 100% operational capacity. To further support regional connectivity, LATAM will temporarily maintain two additional daily flights to Armenia, bringing that route to three daily frequencies. The reopening of Pereira restores the city’s link to LATAM’s domestic and international network for both passenger and cargo transport. Simultaneously, the airline will maintain temporary fare caps on single-leg tickets—set at COP $228,000 for Pereira and COP $234,000 for Armenia (excluding taxes and fees)—and will leverage its Solidarity Plane (Avión Solidario) program to transport humanitarian aid and essential supplies in coordination with relief organizations.

LATAM has also extended its flexible travel policies for passengers holding tickets to or from Pereira, Cali, and Armenia dated between August 10 and August 31, 2026. Affected travelers can rebook dates or flights without penalty or fare differences, change routes subject to cabin availability, or request full refunds with up to one year to complete modifications. Passengers are advised to verify flight status via the airline’s app or website before traveling to the airport.
