Abra Group, the parent company of Avianca and GOL, expressed its support for the Colombian Civil Aviation Authority’s decision to maintain alignment between the country’s slot allocation framework at El Dorado International Airport and the global standards established by IATA through the Worldwide Airport Slot Guidelines (WASG). The group also acknowledged the authority’s commitment to ensuring continuous monitoring of slot usage, a measure that strengthens transparency and promotes a more efficient management of airport capacity.

The company stated that these decisions send a strong signal of regulatory stability, which is essential to encourage long-term investment and consolidate Colombia’s position as a leading aviation hub in Latin America. Abra’s CEO, Adrián Neuhauser, emphasized that a predictable regulatory environment provides the confidence needed to continue investing in Avianca’s development, expanding connectivity, boosting tourism, and supporting employment across the country. Meanwhile, Avianca’s President, Gabriel Oliva, highlighted that, with Abra’s financial backing, the airline will move forward with its growth strategy, supported by an order book of more than 100 next-generation Airbus A320 aircraft.

Abra Group also underlined that implementing slot monitoring in line with WASG principles creates a more predictable and efficient system, optimizing infrastructure use and raising operational standards across the industry.
