The scenario involved the simulated loss of contact with a Cessna 150 carrying two occupants on board during a visual flight over a mountainous area. Within this context, the SAR system was activated, and available resources were immediately deployed to carry out search and rescue operations. Key aspects such as response times, inter-agency communication, and the use of technological tools for locating the aircraft were assessed throughout the exercise.

The SAREX, organized by the Empresa Argentina de Navegación Aérea, involved the participation of several institutions, including the Gendarmería Nacional Argentina, the Argentine Army with its K9 unit, local police, volunteer firefighters, Civil Defense, and the regional public health system, all working in a coordinated manner during the operation.

Additionally, in line with recent advancements in SAR services, drones equipped with thermal cameras were used to enhance search efforts, particularly in low-visibility conditions. These technologies have been previously tested in recent exercises, including nighttime operations, demonstrating their effectiveness and expanding the operational capabilities of the SAR system.

Such exercises are essential for evaluating team performance in emergency situations, validating procedures, strengthening inter-agency coordination, and optimizing the use of advanced technologies. The analysis of the data collected will support continuous improvement in preparedness and ensure compliance with international standards in aeronautical search and rescue.
