According to Andrew Watterson, Chief Operating Officer of Southwest Airlines, Las Vegas and Orlando remain foundational to the airline’s network. In Las Vegas, the carrier plans to launch new nonstop service to 10 additional airports by Spring 2027, reaching a record number of daily departures as it marks 45 years of service in the city. Overall, Southwest will introduce or increase flights on 26 of the 81 routes it operates to and from Las Vegas, while also adding more frequencies across 15 existing nonstop routes to provide greater flexibility in travel schedules.

Meanwhile, in Orlando, Southwest is set to operate its largest schedule ever later this year, with new or expanded service across 23 of the 68 routes currently served. This growth reflects the airline’s strategy to capitalize on strong demand in Central Florida, a region known for its tourism appeal and business travel opportunities. Ultimately, this dual expansion not only enhances connectivity for millions of passengers but also reinforces Southwest’s leadership in two of the most competitive and high-demand aviation markets in the country.
