The merger follows a lengthy restructuring process supported by the South Korean government and state-led creditors, who provided approximately KRW 3.6 trillion in liquidity support to stabilize Asiana Airlines after the pandemic-driven crisis. During the acquisition process, Korean Air managed the financial and operational restructuring of Asiana while overseeing the repayment of public funds. The agreed merger ratio was established at one Korean Air share for 0.2736432 shares of Asiana Airlines, calculated under South Korea’s Capital Markets Act. Following the integration, Korean Air’s capital is expected to increase by approximately KRW 101.7 billion.
