Philippine Airlines to Join oneworld as the Alliance’s 16th Member Airline.Philippine Airlines (PAL), the flag carrier of the Philippines, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to become the 16th member airline of the oneworld alliance. The announcement was made during the International Air Transport Association (IATA) 82nd Annual General Meeting in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, marking a significant milestone for both the airline and the global alliance. PAL’s entry will strengthen oneworld’s presence in Southeast Asia and further expand its network across the Asia-Pacific region.

The airline was invited to join the alliance by the oneworld Governing Board, which is composed of the chief executives of all member carriers. Once fully integrated, Philippine Airlines will add 31 unique destinations to the alliance’s global network, enhancing connectivity throughout the Philippines and supporting travel demand across Asia, North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Australia. The move is expected to provide customers with more seamless travel options and improved access to key markets.

Following its official entry into the alliance, members of Philippine Airlines’ Mabuhay Miles loyalty program will be able to earn and redeem miles across all oneworld carriers. In addition, eligible elite passengers will gain access to oneworld Priority services and more than 700 premium airport lounges worldwide, including oneworld-branded lounges and exclusive First Class facilities. The addition of Philippine Airlines further reinforces oneworld’s position as one of the world’s leading airline alliances while offering travelers expanded global connectivity and premium travel benefits
