Copa Airlines has announced that beginning in March 2027 it will implement a new operational structure at its Hub of the Americas® at Tocumen International Airport in Panama City. The initiative is designed to strengthen connectivity between the continent’s major markets by increasing the number of daily connection banks from six to eight, providing passengers with more travel options and greater scheduling flexibility.

The new schedule, which is already available for booking, will improve the distribution of flights throughout the day across the airline’s network of more than 85 destinations in over 30 countries. According to Christian Rodríguez, Copa Airlines’ Regional Sales Manager, the expanded connection structure will offer more convenient departure and return times, particularly on short- and medium-haul routes, allowing both business and leisure travelers to make better use of their time at their destinations.
The revised operation will also enable earlier arrivals in several high-demand leisure and business markets while improving connections to and from Argentina. Passengers traveling to Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Mendoza, Rosario, Salta, and Tucumán will benefit from more convenient schedules, as well as new connection opportunities to North America and Mexico with reduced overall travel times.

The enhanced hub structure forms part of Copa Airlines’ long-term growth strategy, supported by a significant fleet expansion. The airline currently operates 113 aircraft and expects to end 2026 with 121 airplanes in service. In addition, Copa has committed US$13.5 billion to acquire 60 additional Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, complementing a previous order for 40 units. With more than 100 new aircraft scheduled for delivery over the next eight years, the airline expects to surpass 200 aircraft in operation by 2034, further strengthening its position as one of the leading connectivity carriers in the Americas.
