Copa Airlines Applies for Authorization to Launch New Route Between Panama City and Montería. Panamanian flag carrier Copa Airlines (Compañía Panameña de Aviación S.A.) has formally submitted a request to Colombia’s Special Administrative Unit of Civil Aeronautics (Aeronáutica Civil) to add a new international service connecting Panama City (PTY) and Montería (MTR) to its operating permit.

According to official filings under reference number 2026190010126833, the airline seeks authorization to operate scheduled international passenger, cargo, and mail services along the Panama City – Montería – Panama City route. The application is filed under third and fourth freedoms of the air, enabling the carrier to put down and take on traffic coming from or destined for its home country.

The public notification published by the Air Transport and Commercial Aviation Affairs Directorate complies with the publicity principle outlined in the RAC 5 procedure manual, opening a three-day public review period for interested parties. Aeronautical authorities emphasized that this publication does not constitute a final approval, but rather the official start of the route addition process.

Upon successful completion of the regulatory review and final approval, the route will connect Colombia’s Córdoba department directly to the Hub of the Americas at Tocumen International Airport, expanding international connectivity and travel options for the Colombian Caribbean region.
