Incident and Operational Details

  • ✈ Aircraft Involved: Airbus A321-200N (registration VT-ILZ), a 4.8-year-old aircraft powered by LEAP engines.
  • ✈ Flight Sequence: The flight departed Goa’s runway 28 at approximately 9:16 AM local time. While climbing out, the flight crew stopped the ascent at FL140 after detecting the engine issue.
  • ✈ Safe Return: Following standard emergency procedures, the pilots turned back and safely set the aircraft down in Goa about 35 to 45 minutes after departure.

Airline Response and Passenger Recovery

IndiGo confirmed that the aircraft was grounded at Goa for maintenance inspections and repairs, with operations to resume only after obtaining all safety clearances. To carry the impacted passengers to Delhi, the airline deployed a replacement Airbus A321neo (registration VT-IWR), which completed the journey with a delay of over six hours.
