SATENA Outlines Territorial Expansion and Fleet Modernization Strategy Under New Leadership. Colombian state-owned carrier SATENA has launched a comprehensive expansion plan aiming to reach 100% coverage across all departments in Colombia. Currently serving 28 departments (representing 87.5% of the national territory) across 174 routes, the airline is concentrating its network growth in the Orinoco and Amazon regions, while exploring new international connectivity opportunities from the Colombian Caribbean.

Fleet Strategy, Certifications, and Social Impact

• ✈ Executive Leadership: The expansion is led by newly appointed President Mateo Arjona, who brings over 15 years of background in data, technology, and strategic development.

• ✈ Fleet Deliveries: Operating a current fleet of 24 aircraft, the airline plans to take delivery of three new Twin Otter aircraft from Canada and one ATR 42 from Toulouse, France, before the end of 2026.

• ✈ Fleet Renewal: SATENA is planning the acquisition of three larger capacity aircraft to begin replacing its Embraer 145 fleet and support route expansion.

• Operational Standards: The carrier is working toward obtaining IOSA operational safety certification and FAA maintenance facility certification.

• Loyalty & Social Operations: Plans include launching a new frequent flyer loyalty program, continuing operational support from Colombian Air Force (FAC) personnel, and scheduling humanitarian relief flights during September to transport food, medicine, pets, and essential supplies to vulnerable regional communities.
