Air Canada Expands Global Network for Summer 2027 with New Routes and Year-Round Services. Air Canada announced a major expansion of its international network for the Northern Hemisphere summer of 2027, incorporating five new destinations and seven new routes, alongside increased frequencies across strategic global markets. Out of Vancouver, the flag carrier launched year-round service to Guangzhou, China, while expanding operations from Toronto with new non-stop flights to Oslo, Shannon, and Nice. The airline also resumed its daytime “Day-tripper” service to London Heathrow, upgraded its Shanghai flights to daily operations, and extended its Guatemala City route—originally launched in December 2026—to year-round service.

From its primary French-Canadian hub in Montreal, Air Canada added Basel and Dubrovnik to its global network, while transitioning its flights to Tenerife, Lima, and Guatemala City to year-round operations. Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer of Air Canada and President of Air Canada Cargo, highlighted that summer 2027 marked the largest intercontinental expansion in the airline’s history. The growth strategy was supported by steady fleet expansion, incorporating next-generation aircraft such as the Airbus A321XLR alongside widebody jets, and the strategic development of its three primary Canadian hubs.
For the summer 2027 season, Air Canada scheduled operations across more than 125 international routes, offering up to 169,000 weekly seats from Canada to over 85 international destinations across Europe, Asia-Pacific, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, and South America. This capacity deployment represented an increase of over 8% in Available Seat Kilometers (ASK) to these regions compared to summer 2026. The carrier also anticipated further network expansion announcements tied to the entry into service of its upcoming Boeing 787-10 fleet.
