Arajet Accelerates Commitment to Argentina: Projects 291,000 Passengers and Adds Punta Cana Flights. The air travel market between Argentina and the Dominican Republic is undergoing strong expansion and could surpass 425,000 passengers in 2026, accounting for round-trip travel. Within this context, Arajet projects carrying nearly 291,000 passengers to and from Argentina, solidifying the country as one of the strategic markets in its network.
The flag carrier of the Dominican Republic, celebrating its fourth anniversary, noted that Argentina is one of the markets best reflecting the so-called “Arajet Effect,” a term used by the company to describe the surge in air traffic driven by increased flight capacity.

Bilateral market volume grew from approximately 71,000 passengers in 2022 to a projection exceeding 425,000 in 2026. Arajet carried 3,378 passengers in 2023, 56,975 in 2024, and 113,271 in 2025. Between January and June 2026, it transported 141,470 point-to-point passengers between both countries, a 205.6% increase compared to the same period in 2025, according to statistics from the Dominican Civil Aviation Board (JAC).
To meet rising demand, Arajet will boost capacity from Argentina during the 2026/2027 summer season. The airline will add one additional weekly frequency on each of the four routes it currently operates from the country: Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Rosario, and Mendoza to Punta Cana.
Buenos Aires was also Arajet‘s highest-volume route across its entire network during the first half of 2026. The capacity increase aims to support peak tourist travel and strengthen connectivity between Argentina, the Dominican Republic, and other destinations across the airline’s network. Growth has also driven job creation, with Arajet generating over 1,000 jobs and currently employing more than 40 Argentine pilots, alongside local personnel in technical, administrative, and operational roles.

According to the company, the Argentine market growth reflects a broader regional trend. Air traffic between the Dominican Republic and analyzed Latin American markets rose from approximately 1.3 million passengers in 2022 to 2.8 million in 2025, with projections exceeding 3.2 million for 2026. Arajet transported over 1.8 million passengers between September 2025 and September 2026, up 58% over the previous period. The airline expects to surpass 2 million passengers in 2026 and reach 3 million in 2027, when it plans to operate a fleet of approximately 25 aircraft.
Expansion will continue with new South American destinations, including Guayaquil and Montevideo, as the airline aims to expand its network from Santo Domingo and Punta Cana, establishing the Dominican Republic as a premier air connection hub for the Americas.
