The planned December restart follows the postponement of an earlier launch target set for October 1, 2026. The route has experienced repeated cycles of suspensions and resumptions since the onset of regional hostilities in October 2023, making long-term schedule stability difficult to maintain.
According to historical route data, Air India previously resumed flights in March 2025 before suspending operations in early May 2025 following a Houthi missile strike on the grounds of Ben Gurion Airport. Services were re-established in February 2026, only to be halted again by the end of that month following the escalation of conflict with Iran.

As reported by Globes, while the planned December 1, 2026 restart represents a major effort to restore direct connectivity between both nations, actual operations will remain subject to geopolitical and security developments across the region.
