The carrier achieved these financial milestones despite severe cost headwinds driven by volatile jet fuel markets. Total fuel expenditure rose by $1.8 billion year-over-year, with the airline paying an average fuel price of $3.90 per gallon. United Airlines counteracted these cost pressures through disciplined revenue management; while capacity expanded by 1.3%, total revenue per available seat mile (TRASM) surged by 15.9%. Premium cabin and loyalty revenues climbed 17%, corporate contract revenues expanded 26%, cargo demand drove a 23% revenue increase, and Basic Economy ticket sales advanced 16% over the period.
On the product side, the airline expanded its high-speed connectivity initiative powered by Starlink, equipping over 640 aircraft at a rapid conversion rate of roughly three planes per day. More than 5.4 million passengers utilized the low-latency satellite Wi-Fi system in September alone, which offers complimentary service to all MileagePlus members regardless of cabin class. The broadband bandwidth also powers live inflight streaming for college football and professional NFL games. Chief Executive Officer Scott Kirby noted that customer satisfaction scores on Starlink-outfitted aircraft were nearly double those recorded on aircraft equipped with conventional Wi-Fi platforms, with full fleet installation expected by late 2027.

Domestically, the carrier served 241 airports, opened a modern 800-seat United Club featuring an outdoor terrace at Houston‘s Terminal B, and advanced terminal redesign plans at Washington Dulles International Airport. On October 16, the company strengthened its balance sheet by upscaling its revolving credit facility from $3.0 billion to $5.0 billion, closing the quarter with $17.7 billion in total available liquidity against $26.4 billion in total debt and finance lease obligations.
