The certification formally authorizes SATENA MRO to perform airframe and component maintenance on U.S.-registered aircraft (designated by the N tail prefix), verifying full compliance with strict technical, document, and safety benchmarks established by the U.S. civil aviation authority. Mateo Arjona Molina, President of SATENA, highlighted that the certification represents a decisive step in diversifying the company’s business model beyond scheduled passenger services, demonstrating the high technical caliber of Colombian aeronautical engineering within a heavily regulated global framework.

SATENA MRO possesses extensive operational experience servicing regional transport aircraft, including ATR 42, ATR 72, Embraer ERJ-145, and de Havilland Canada Twin Otter platforms—types essential for short-haul and regional connectivity. The maintenance center also holds technical authorizations from the Colombian National Police and the Colombian Aerospace Force. Under the new FAA authorization, the facility will be able to perform certified component repairs and release parts back into service under international airworthiness guidelines.
