Communication Failure Disrupts Operations at José María Córdova Airport in Medellín.  During the morning hours, communication issues were reported in the air traffic control system at José María Córdova International Airport, leading to temporary restrictions on flight operations. The disruption, caused by interference in the aviation frequency, forced authorities to limit both departures and arrivals while the situation was being assessed.

According to preliminary reports, by 12:40 p.m. there was no estimated time for full recovery, impacting several scheduled flights. At that time, at least 2 departing flights were canceled and 2 delayed, while arrivals recorded 2 cancellations and 6 delays. The issue was linked to technical failures during an upgrade of microwave link equipment within Medellín’s southern air traffic control sector.

The Colombian Civil Aviation Authority confirmed that the situation was brought under control, and operations began to gradually return to normal around 1:00 p.m. Passengers were advised to stay in contact with their airlines and check official Aerocivil channels for real-time updates, as schedules may still be subject to changes.
