Argentina’s commercial aviation sector continues to experience strong growth, with the first four months of 2026 becoming the busiest period ever recorded for passenger traffic and flight operations in the country. According to official data from the Administración Nacional de Aviación Civil (ANAC), airports across Argentina handled 17,897,992 passengers between January and April, surpassing the previous record set in 2025 by 5%. April alone registered 3,906,057 passengers, making it the busiest April in the history of the Argentine aviation market. The figures highlight the sustained expansion of air connectivity, driven by increased flight availability, new routes, and the arrival of additional operators in both domestic and international markets.

Flight activity also reached historic levels during the period. In April, Argentina recorded 30,980 aircraft movements, while the cumulative total for the first four months of the year climbed to 138,369 operations, exceeding the previous record for the same period by 2%. Domestic traffic remained a key pillar of growth, with 2,581,166 passengers traveling on internal flights during April. Meanwhile, the international segment achieved a new record for the month, reaching 1,324,891 passengers, 3% above the previous high set in 2018. The results underline Argentina’s growing integration into regional and global aviation networks, supported by rising demand and expanded international connectivity.

The sector’s expansion was further strengthened by new routes and services introduced under the Government’s Open Skies policy. Emirates launched dedicated cargo operations to Argentina, while Flybondi began operating the Córdoba–Jujuy route and Aerolíneas Argentinas resumed flights between Salta and Rosario. Internationally, Copa added the Medellín–Panama–Aeroparque route, SKY Airline launched flights linking Santiago de Chile, Aeroparque, and Salvador de Bahia, and LATAM Brasil resumed services between Aeroparque and Rio de Janeiro. In addition, EL AL Israel Airlines confirmed the launch of nonstop flights between Tel Aviv and Buenos Aires starting in November 2026, marking the first direct air connection between Argentina and Israel. Federal connectivity also continued to expand, as 196,745 passengers traveled internationally from airports outside Buenos Aires during April, representing a 35% increase compared to 2025.
