Frontier Airlines Expands into South America for the First Time with Three Orlando–Colombia Routes. U.S. ultra-low-cost carrier Frontier Airlines is making its official entry into South America through a strategic route expansion out of Orlando International Airport (MCO). Beginning December 2026, the airline will connect Central Florida with three primary Colombian markets: Bogotá, Medellín, and Cartagena, significantly increasing low-fare seat capacity between the United States and Colombia.
Route Network, Schedule, and Launch Dates
- ✈ Medellín (MDE): Inaugural service begins December 10, 2026, operating daily (7 weekly flights).
- ✈ Bogotá (BOG): Service launches December 14, 2026, operating 6 times per week, before scaling up to daily operations starting March 6, 2027.
- ✈ Cartagena (CTG): Weekly flights begin December 19, 2026, operating once per week.

Promotional Fares and Pricing Structure
To support the launch, Frontier announced introductory one-way fares starting at $99 USD:
- ✈ Bogotá: Starting at $99 USD one-way.
- ✈ Cartagena: Starting at $129 USD one-way.
- ✈ Medellín: Starting at $169 USD one-way.
(Fares subject to availability, advance purchase conditions, and blackout dates).
Executive Insights & “The New Frontier” Strategy
Tyri Squyres, Frontier’s Vice President of Public and Consumer Affairs, emphasized: “This is an exciting day for Frontier and for travelers,” pointing to strong unserved demand for low-cost options connecting Central Florida and Colombia. Orlando International Airport officials welcomed the announcement, noting that Frontier’s route rollout enhances regional connectivity and broadens flight options for international passengers.
This South American expansion arrives alongside the airline’s “The New Frontier” commercial overhaul, an initiative that includes premium seating products such as UpFront Plus and the introduction of First Class seating options across its fleet starting in 2026.
