Avianca Cargo Transports 355 Tons of Flowers to Brazil for Valentine’s Season. Avianca Cargo successfully completed one of its most ambitious logistics operations of 2026, transporting nearly 355 tons of fresh flowers—equivalent to more than six million stems—from Colombia and Ecuador to Brazil ahead of the country’s Dia dos Namorados (Valentine’s Day) celebrations. The operation further strengthens the airline’s position as a leading air cargo carrier in Latin America while highlighting Grupo Abra’s commitment to expanding the region’s floriculture industry into high-growth international markets.

The scale of the operation was significant. In just a few weeks, Avianca Cargo moved a volume equivalent to 71.8% of all flower exports from Colombia to Brazil during the entirety of 2025. To meet the seasonal surge in demand, the carrier connected Bogotá’s El Dorado International Airport and Quito’s Mariscal Sucre International Airport with Viracopos International Airport in Campinas, one of Brazil’s most important air cargo hubs. This strategic network ensured the timely delivery of highly perishable products while maintaining strict quality and cold-chain standards.

The success of the operation was driven by the integration of capabilities within Grupo Abra. In addition to operating four dedicated cargo charter flights, Avianca Cargo worked closely with Gollog, GOL’s logistics division, to maximize the use of passenger aircraft belly capacity, adding 72 extra tons of cargo space. This coordinated effort strengthened cold-chain management and distribution efficiency, helping Avianca Cargo secure a 45% share of the air import market for flowers from Colombia and Ecuador into Brazil in 2026, according to World ACD, positioning the company among the leading players in the sector.
