The event featured special activations led by renowned Hong Kong-born chef Jereme Leung, who created exclusive Cantonese-inspired dishes for guests visiting the Delta One Lounge and Delta Sky Club. Passengers also received customized travel guides and commemorative “Love HKG” tote bags designed specifically for the inaugural service. The official launch included a ribbon-cutting ceremony and welcome remarks before the Airbus A350 departed for Hong Kong. One of the most memorable moments came from First Officer Victor Ngai, a Hong Kong native, who personally greeted travelers and reflected on the significance of flying Delta’s first nonstop service from Los Angeles to his hometown. Ngai noted that growing up near Hong Kong’s former Kai Tak Airport inspired his lifelong passion for aviation.

Upon arrival in Hong Kong, the aircraft received a traditional water cannon salute, a ceremonial honor reserved for important milestones in aviation. Airport officials, tourism representatives, local media, and Delta executives gathered to welcome the new service and celebrate the beginning of a direct air link between the two global cities. The addition of Hong Kong follows Delta’s recent network growth in the Asia-Pacific region, including services to Melbourne and the return of flights to Shanghai. As the largest global carrier at LAX, Delta operates more than 160 departures on peak days to 61 destinations, and the new Hong Kong route further strengthens its position while offering travelers expanded connectivity between North America and Asia.
