JetBlue Chief Executive Officer Joanna Geraghty said Fort Lauderdale has always been a cornerstone of the airline’s network and that the new expansion reflects its long-term commitment to South Florida. She noted that the airline is adding more destinations and creating additional connections to provide customers with greater travel options while strengthening its presence in one of its most important markets. Broward County officials also welcomed the announcement, highlighting the expected economic benefits of JetBlue’s continued investment in the region. Airport Director Mark E. Gale said the expansion reinforces the partnership between the airport and the airline, while improving connectivity for both local travelers and connecting passengers across the United States, Latin America and the Caribbean.

The expansion follows a period of rapid growth for JetBlue at Fort Lauderdale, where daily departures have increased by more than 75% compared with the same period last year. Since December, the airline has launched service to 24 additional nonstop destinations, with six more scheduled before the end of the year. JetBlue also confirmed that it will introduce its premium Mint service between Fort Lauderdale and San Diego on November 19, marking the first time the airline will operate the route and offering the only lie-flat product between the two cities. Additional Mint flights to Los Angeles and San Francisco will also begin this winter. Beyond expanding its network, the JetBlue Foundation announced US$130,000 in grants to organizations across South Florida to support STEM education, youth development programs and initiatives that encourage future careers in aviation.
