Located in the departure area near Gates 1 and 2, the facility is available free of charge to travelers of all ages. The space features reduced noise levels, comfortable ergonomic seating, sensory panels, a tactile exploration area, and a low-visual-stimulation environment with specially designed audiovisual content aimed at creating a calm and relaxing atmosphere.

The project was developed in partnership with Mondo, an architecture firm specializing in environments designed with and for neurodivergent individuals, with additional support from accessibility experts. To ensure easy access, the airport has implemented clear wayfinding throughout the terminal. Use of the Sensory Calm Space requires advance booking through the Aeropuertos Uruguay website, allowing the airport to manage occupancy and maintain a suitable environment for passengers seeking reduced sensory stimulation.

The opening of the new facility builds on Aeropuertos Uruguay’s broader accessibility strategy, which includes participation in the global Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program for travelers with non-visible disabilities and the implementation of NaviLens technology to assist passengers with visual impairments. Through these initiatives, Carrasco International Airport continues to strengthen its commitment to making air travel more inclusive and accessible for everyone.
