Colombian Aviation Sector Grows 5.1% Through July Driven by Domestic Routes and Freight. Colombia’s commercial aviation industry continued its upward momentum during the first seven months of 2026, recording a 5.1% year-over-year increase in passenger traffic. Provisional data from the Civil Aviation Authority’s Analytics Office (Aeronáutica Civil) shows that 34.3 million passengers traveled across domestic and international routes between January and July.

Passenger Traffic Breakdown

  • ✈ Domestic Market: Reached 19.5 million passengers, marking a 5.7% increase year-over-year and driving overall industry growth.

  • ✈ International Market: Grew 4.4%, reflecting sustained recovery across business and leisure tourism.

  • ✈ July Peak: Colombian airport terminals processed 5.3 million passengers during July alone.

Air Freight Performance

Air cargo and mail transport also posted strong figures, moving 584,263 metric tons between January and July—a 5.8% increase compared to 2025. International freight accounted for the vast majority of volume at 501,718 tons (+6.3%), while domestic cargo reached 82,545 tons (+3.0%). In July, cargo shipments peaked at 78,432 tons (+7.26% YoY), highlighting the aviation sector’s essential role in Colombia’s foreign trade and economic competitiveness.
