Colombia Handles 39.4 Million Air Passengers Between January and August 2026. According to data from Colombia‘s Civil Aeronautics Special Administrative Unit (Aerocivil), air transport in Colombia maintained a positive trend by handling 39.4 million passengers between January and August 2026, marking a 4.6% increase compared to the same period in 2025. During August alone, 5.1 million travelers were recorded, bringing the trailing 12-month total (September 2025 to August 2026) to 59.2 million passengers (+3.4%).

Across market segments, domestic flights carried 22.3 million passengers through August (+4.9%), while international travel reached 17.1 million passengers (+4.1%). Regionally, airports in Cali, Armenia, and Quibdó grew by nearly 3% in August despite regional earthquake impacts. Conversely, Pereira‘s Matecaña International Airport saw a 58% drop in passenger traffic during August due to structural infrastructure damage caused by the earthquake.

Meanwhile, air cargo and mail volume totaled 668,800 metric tons between January and August 2026 (+6.5%), pushing the trailing 12-month total to 1,002,478 metric tons (+4.6%). In August alone, 81,565 tons were transported (+8.1%). International freight drove this performance with 575,192 tons moved during the eight-month period (+7.5%), while domestic cargo contributed 93,608 tons (+1.1%).
