This agreement marks Ethiopian Airlines‘ second order within the 777X family, building on its previous purchase of eight 777-9 passenger jets which established the carrier as the first 777X customer in Africa. The 777-8F features a maximum structural payload capacity of 118 tonnes, delivering high payload-range performance alongside reduced fuel use and lower operating costs per tonne.
“The addition of the Boeing 777-8F Freighters and 777F Freighters will enhance our ability to serve customers around the world with greater payload capacity, operational flexibility, efficiency, and sustainability,” stated Mesfin Tasew, Group CEO of Ethiopian Airlines.
Meanwhile, Brad McMullen, Senior Vice President of Commercial Sales and Marketing at Boeing, highlighted the carrier’s milestone as the first in Africa to order the new 777-8F.
