Volaris to Temporarily Suspend Flights to Tulum Starting January 2027. Mexican ultra-low-cost carrier Volaris will temporarily suspend its operations to and from Tulum (Mexico), effective January 7, 2027. The decision follows a comprehensive profitability review of its route network, driven by rising industry operating costs and lower load factors across select services.

The airline cited several cost pressures impacting operations, including increases in the Non-Resident Fee (DNR), Airport Use Fees (TUA), higher jet fuel prices, and increased air navigation charges levied by SENEAM (Services to Navigation in the Mexican Airspace). As a result of this review, Volaris opted to pause its service at Tulum International Airport.

Flight operations will continue as scheduled through January 7, 2027, with ticket sales for travel beyond that date being suspended over the weekend. Volaris expressed its intention to resume flights to Tulum in the future and confirmed that affected passengers will be offered rebooking options, electronic travel vouchers, or full refunds in accordance with its customer flexibility policies.
