Lufthansa Group Expands Presence in Japan and Restores Direct Flights to Nagoya. Lufthansa Group is set to expand its network footprint in Japan during the Summer 2027 operational season, ramping up capacity to reach up to 50 weekly flights connecting Europe with the Asian nation. As part of this capacity growth, the German airline group will restore direct long-haul service between Frankfurt (FRA) and Nagoya (NGO), while adding a new daily frequency connecting Frankfurt with Tokyo‘s Narita International Airport (NRT).

The seasonal route between Frankfurt and Nagoya will resume operations on March 29, 2027, running three times per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. Nagoya serves as a primary industrial center in central Japan, heavily driven by automotive manufacturing and heavy industry, while also acting as a regional transit point for leisure travelers heading to cultural hubs such as Kyoto.
- ✈ Outbound flight LH736 will depart Frankfurt at 14:10, arriving in Nagoya at 09:35 the following morning.
- ✈ The return sector, flight LH737, is scheduled to leave Nagoya at 11:30, landing back in Frankfurt at 18:30 local time.

In addition to the Nagoya resumption, Lufthansa will introduce a new daily flight linking Frankfurt and Tokyo-Narita starting March 28, 2027.
- ✈ Flight LH710 will depart Frankfurt at 13:45, touching down in Narita at 09:30 the next day.
- ✈ The return leg, flight LH711, will depart Tokyo at 11:20 and arrive in Frankfurt at 18:40.
Both the Nagoya and Narita routes will utilize Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft fitted with the airline’s new Allegris cabin interior. The seating layout features 28 seats in Business Class, 28 in Premium Economy, and 231 in Economy Class.
These operational expansions build upon Lufthansa‘s existing daily long-haul services connecting its primary hubs in Frankfurt and Munich with Tokyo-Haneda (HND). Furthermore, group member SWISS plans to boost its own seat capacity on routes to Japan throughout the Summer 2027 schedule, consolidating the airline group’s commercial position across key Japanese travel markets.
