SATENA Plans New Neiva–Medellín Route to Boost Regional Connectivity

SATENA is advancing its expansion strategy in southern Colombia through an institutional agenda in Neiva, aimed at strengthening regional air connectivity. The visit, led by Óscar Zuluaga Castaño, brought together local authorities and business leaders to assess opportunities that could enhance mobility and support economic development in the department of Huila.

During meetings with city officials and representatives from the local chamber of commerce, discussions focused on the region’s connectivity needs and the role SATENA can play in improving access to key domestic markets. In this context, the airline announced plans to launch a new route between Neiva and Medellín, with operations expected to begin ahead of the San Pedro and San Pablo festivities, one of the busiest tourism periods in the region.

The proposed service would operate three weekly flights—on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays—using ATR aircraft, known for their efficiency on short-haul routes. This connection is expected to significantly reduce travel times while strengthening commercial, institutional, and tourism ties between both cities. Ultimately, the initiative reinforces SATENA’s role as a strategic player in Colombia’s air integration, supporting regional development and improving access to essential connectivity.
