Avianca boosts capacity with 3,000+ flights for World Cup travel demand. The airline Avianca has announced a historic operational expansion of more than 3,000 flights and nearly 600,000 seats aimed at connecting passengers to key destinations during the upcoming World Cup season. As part of this strategy, the carrier—part of Grupo Abra—is strengthening its network across the United States, Canada, and Mexico to respond to the expected surge in demand from football fans traveling across the Americas.

To reinforce this expansion, Avianca will add extra frequencies representing approximately 1,800 additional seats on strategic routes from Bogotá to cities such as Miami, Dallas, and Mexico City, as well as from Quito to New York. The airline is also enhancing connectivity with the launch of the Guatemala–San Francisco direct route, offering four weekly frequencies and more than 1,400 seats per week during the season. These adjustments are designed to improve access to major host cities and streamline travel across the continent.

Avianca highlighted that it now offers operations to 10 of the 16 World Cup host cities, including key hubs in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. With a network of more than 80 destinations across 25 countries and 155 routes, the airline is positioning itself as a major connector for regional mobility during high-demand periods. The company also emphasized its enhanced onboard and fare offerings, including Business Class Américas and expanded service inclusions on international flights.
