Latin America Airports Surpass 790 Million Passengers in 2025. The Airports Council International Latin America and the Caribbean released its preliminary 2025 traffic data, confirming steady growth across the region’s aviation sector. Total passenger traffic exceeded 790 million, representing a 3.8% increase compared to 2024. Within this context, São Paulo/Guarulhos International Airport ranked as the busiest airport with more than 47.1 million passengers, followed by El Dorado International Airport with 45.4 million and Mexico City International Airport with 44.6 million, reinforcing their role as key regional hubs.

The report also highlighted the strong performance of Rio de Janeiro/Galeão International Airport, which recorded a remarkable 23.5% increase in passenger traffic, reaching 17.9 million travelers in 2025. According to Rafael Echevarne, these results demonstrate the resilience of the region’s leading airports, driven by international connectivity and the recovery of domestic demand. He emphasized that infrastructure investments and tourism development have played a crucial role in boosting airport performance, particularly in Rio de Janeiro.

In terms of international traffic, the top 10 airports handled 134 million passengers, up 3.69% year-over-year, with notable growth at Tocumen International Airport (+8.28%) and Guarulhos (+6.95%). Air cargo volumes also increased by 1.7%, surpassing 3.8 million metric tons, led by El Dorado, while Jorge Chávez International Airport and Tocumen recorded the highest growth rates. Meanwhile, aircraft movements exceeded 2.2 million (+0.4%), with El Dorado leading the region and Tocumen posting the strongest growth, confirming a positive outlook for Latin America’s aviation industry.
