To support the surge in demand, the airline expanded its operations in Quito from nine to 24 weekly flights during the season, including additional capacity made available through its commercial agreement with Amazon Air Cargo. On a regional scale, the operation also reached significant milestones: when combining Ecuador and Colombia, at least one out of every three flowers exported from South America to the United States during the 2026 Mother’s Day season traveled aboard Avianca Cargo aircraft. Overall, the airline operated more than 330 flights and transported over 21,000 tons of flowers across its regional network using a fleet of nine dedicated freighter aircraft.

Diogo Elias, CEO of Avianca Cargo, stated that Ecuador remains a priority market within the airline’s regional strategy and emphasized that the 55% growth demonstrates the company’s ability to quickly scale operations in response to increasing demand. Ecuador and Colombia continue to rank among the world’s leading flower exporters, while the Mother’s Day season represents one of the most demanding logistics periods of the year for the floral industry. With these results, Avianca Cargo strengthens its position as the leading flower cargo carrier between South America and the U.S. market, supported by a network connecting more than 350 destinations through cargo operations, passenger flights, and interline agreements.
