Avior Airlines Expands Barcelona Route Network Amid Maiquetía Operations Suspension. Avior Airlines has announced the expansion of its domestic and international route network from General José Antonio Anzoátegui International Airport in Barcelona, Anzoátegui State, as part of its strategy to maintain Venezuela’s air connectivity while operations to and from Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía remain suspended.
The airline said Barcelona has become a strategic gateway for ensuring passenger mobility and supporting commercial and tourism activity during the current operational restrictions. The expansion includes new frequencies and destinations within Venezuela, as well as additional international services to Colombia and Curaçao. In the domestic market, Avior will strengthen its service to Maracaibo through two connecting routes.

- ✈ The first, via Barquisimeto, will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays—with Sunday flights beginning on July 19.
- ✈ The second route, via Las Piedras, will launch on July 16, operating on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The airline will also introduce a new Barcelona–El Vigía service starting July 22, with one weekly flight every Tuesday. These additions are designed to improve connectivity between key regions of Venezuela and provide greater flexibility for both business and leisure travelers.
Internationally, Avior will expand its services to Bogotá, Medellín, and Curaçao. The Barcelona–Bogotá route will add new flights on Fridays and Sundays, along with additional return services during weekends. Flights to Medellín will also increase with the addition of Thursday operations, complementing the existing Tuesday and Saturday schedule.

Meanwhile, service between Barcelona and Curaçao will resume on July 16 with two weekly flights, which will also provide onward connectivity to Maracaibo, strengthening regional links across the Caribbean. With these additions, Avior Airlines reaffirms its commitment to maintaining reliable air transportation and meeting the connectivity needs of Venezuelan travelers during this period of operational adjustments.
