Abra and Etihad partner to strengthen connectivity between Latin America, the Middle East, and Asia. Etihad Airways and Abra Group have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a strategic partnership aimed at expanding air connectivity between Latin America, the Middle East, and Asia. The agreement brings together Etihad with Abra’s airlines—Avianca, GOL, and Wamos Air—to create new commercial opportunities and provide passengers with access to a broader global network.

The partnership will cover several areas of cooperation, including joint route development, codeshare agreements, frequent flyer program integration, ACMI services, and aircraft leasing. Through the agreement, passengers traveling with Avianca, GOL, and Wamos Air will gain easier access to Etihad’s global network via its Abu Dhabi hub, while Etihad will expand its presence across Latin America through Abra’s extensive route network. The first commercial initiatives and customer benefits are expected to be introduced throughout 2026.

The agreement also includes fleet cooperation. GOL is evaluating the operating lease of an Airbus A330-900 from Etihad, with a potential entry into service in November 2026, while Wamos Air may provide up to three aircraft to support Etihad’s expansion beginning in March 2027. Both Adrian Neuhauser, CEO of Abra, and Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of Etihad Airways, said the partnership will strengthen ties between the regions and create new opportunities for passengers, business partners, and the continued growth of both networks.
