Over the coming years, the proportion of premium seating on narrowbody aircraft will increase from the current 25% to approximately 40%. To achieve this, American Airlines is reconfiguring its Airbus A319 and Airbus A320 fleets to add an extra row of First Class. Additionally, new Boeing 737 MAX 10 deliveries will feature 24 First Class seats, while existing Airbus A321neo aircraft will be modified to expand premium capacity. The airline will also increase the number of Main Cabin Extra seats, offering extra legroom, priority boarding, and additional amenities.

Furthermore, American Airlines will introduce seatback screens on all new Airbus and Boeing deliveries starting in 2028, as well as across retrofitted aircraft. The next-generation entertainment systems will feature large 4K screens, personalized content, interactive flight maps, USB-C charging ports, and Bluetooth audio connectivity. The rollout will begin progressively, with full narrowbody fleet coverage anticipated by the early 2030s. These cabin enhancements will be complemented by the deployment of Starlink Wi-Fi starting in 2027, solidifying a long-term strategy focused on connected and personalized travel.
