JetSMART Restructures Its Route Network in Chile and Projects Over 10% Growth in 2027. Marking its 10th anniversary since foundation, JetSMART has announced a major restructuring of its route network in Chile aimed at optimizing fleet utilization, strengthening domestic operations, and expanding international services. The carrier plans to increase its fleet based in Chile by 20% and projects net growth exceeding 10% in the Chilean market for 2027 through a reallocation of capacity, frequencies, and routes across core domestic markets. Concurrently, JetSMART expects to boost its international flight operations out of Chile by 62% over the coming year.

This strategic adjustment comes amidst a contraction in Chile‘s domestic air travel market. According to figures from the Civil Aviation Board (JAC), domestic passenger traffic reached 1,167,933 travelers in August, reflecting a 1.5% decrease compared to August 2025. Between January and August, domestic traffic totaled 10,371,721 passengers, a year-over-year drop of 3.3%.
“This is the time to believe and invest in Chile,” stated Estuardo Ortiz, CEO and founder of JetSMART.
Highlighting the carrier’s broader footprint across South America, where it operates over 100 routes with a fleet of 56 aircraft and has served more than 65 million passengers. On international routes, JetSMART recorded a 20.2% surge in passenger traffic from Chile in August compared to the previous year, with plans to further leverage its regional footprint and airline partnerships.

Under the new operational model, JetSMART will base its aircraft and flight crews in Santiago. The airline will double capacity between Concepción and Santiago, while offering connections from Concepción to Iquique, Antofagasta, Calama, and La Serena via the capital. Additionally, frequencies will increase across routes to Iquique, Calama, Antofagasta, La Serena, Concepción, Temuco, Puerto Montt, and Santiago, while a new Santiago–Montevideo–Recife route is set to launch on January 7, 2027.
