SATENA maintains a long-standing relationship with Bahía Solano, having operated in the region since the 1970s. For over five decades, the carrier has supported local mobility needs, connecting the municipality with Medellín, Cali, and Quibdó. Throughout this period, the airline adapted its fleet to regional geographic and operational requirements using aircraft such as the DC-3, Avro, CASA, Dornier, ATR 42, and Twin Otter.

The Medellín–Bahía Solano–Medellín route has shown steady growth over the past decade. For 2026, SATENA projects transporting nearly 30,000 passengers along this corridor, underscoring the importance of air link access for the municipality. The airline currently operates 32 weekly frequencies, providing daily service with primary connections to Medellín and Quibdó, alongside flights to and from Cali.
The airport overhaul will support this growing demand with upgraded facilities for travelers and operators. For Bahía Solano, modernized airport infrastructure strengthens local mobility, facilitates tourism, and supports economic growth across this region of the Colombian Pacific.
