Biman Bangladesh Airlines Adds 11 Boeing 787 and 737 MAX Aircraft. Biman Bangladesh Airlines has announced a new order for 11 Boeing aircraft, comprising five 787-10 Dreamliners and six 737-8 jets, as part of its fleet renewal strategy to expand its international route network. The agreement complements the airline’s larger order placed in early 2026 for 14 additional aircraft from the 787 Dreamliner and 737 MAX families. With this new transaction, Biman advances its modernization plan to increase capacity and boost Bangladesh‘s global air connectivity.

The contract signing took place during the United Nations General Assembly, attended by representatives from the governments of Bangladesh and the United States. Rumee A. Hossain, Chairman of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, stated that the new order fulfills the specific requirements of the carrier’s fleet plan while highlighting its long-standing partnership with Boeing.
Currently, Biman operates a fleet of Boeing 787, 777, and 737 aircraft on international services connecting Bangladesh with destinations across the Middle East, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Europe. The incoming 737-8 aircraft will expand capacity and range across the airline’s single-aisle network, while the 787-10s will add long-haul capacity to complement the 787-8 and 787-9 models already in service.

According to Boeing, the 787 Dreamliner and 737 MAX families deliver between 20% and 25% better fuel efficiency compared to the aircraft they replace, supporting Biman‘s modernization and operational efficiency targets. Boeing noted that the additional order reflects Biman‘s growth strategy, providing the airline with enhanced capacity, efficiency, and operational flexibility to support Bangladesh‘s aviation sector.
